+2 Protein & Trace Leukocytes with Repeat Urine

Has anyone had to do a repeat urine sample after their original sample was sent off for testing?
I saw the midwife at 32 weeks and my urine showed +2 Protein and a trace of Leukocytes. As I've not had any discharge or high blood pressure she was reluctant to send it off however I said I would like it checking. 2 days later the doctors called me and said that a request had been put in for a repeat sample and I had to go in that day to provide one. There was no reason why or any indication about the results of the previous sample.
Anyone else had this?

Yesterday I was in my doctors office because of elevated blood pressure and headache, my protein was 3 and I had leukocytes in my urine as well. While in the office having my bp monitored for a couple hours they had me just keep drinking water and once I had to pee again my protein went back down to 2 and the leukocytes were just a trace. So maybe they're just looking for if there's a change?

If you have both protein and leukocytes in your urine then that's normally an indication of a urinary tract infection, especially if your bp etc was otherwise normal. Did she check your temp or anything?

The repeat sample may be needed to see if there is any change or to do a further culture and sensitivity test, sometimes samples can become contaminated or there isn't enough urine to test.

The great joy I have about being a nurse is havibg direct access to the labs via work so I tend to bypass the GP

I rang them for an update and apparently the midwife forgot to write my details on the original vial hence the repeat sample! Results haven't come back yet so will have to keep chasing :/

They lost my first sample and then didn't label my repeat sample up correctly so neither got tested 😡 2 weeks later I've had to do another test!
