So who's lost the mucus plug early?

I'm currently 31+4 and all weekend felt off, slept on the couch which is unusual for me and had really strong BH. Last night before bed I lost a big clump of mucus plug then more this morning and every time Iv been the toilet there has been more.

Today I feel really off, like sickly, period crampy pains and sore lower back with BH on and off. Also feeling like loads of pressure down below 😖

Iv only ever lost the plug once and that was a week before I gave birth so havnt had this before!

I havnt seen a midwife for 3 weeks finally got a midwife appointment this Friday but wondered if anyone else experienced this before x

I lost my plug early with my twins and went in for regular Braxton hicks and was dilated to a 3. They stopped labor. I would say to keep an eye on things it could mean you're dilating!

Never that early! Does your MW know you're having preterm labor symptoms? Look, everything will be all right... your baby would be fine (although guaranteed time in the NICU) at that gestation... but you definitely should get looked at. I don't want to scare you or stress you out at ALL. I did a quick Google search and found LOTS of folks who lost plug that early, and most of them stayed pregnant for much longer, but I wouldn't mess with it, especially accompanied by those other labor
symptoms of yours.

I havnt seen my midwife since 25 weeks I mentioned then I had started having BH and she did say it could cause preterm labour, since then they have come on a lot more, more regular and stronger. I think today has been the worst I just feel so crampy and baby is moving so much more than normal?

How would I know if I was dilating? Would that just be going in to get checked? x

Yes I would definitely go get checked. With my preterm labor the contractions just felt like my usual Braxton hicks. Better safe than sorry.

I would try to speak to your midwife asap just to make sure everything's ok. I had strong BHs at 31+6 with my first baby and it turned out I was in labour and she was born that day!

I think speaking to your midwife asap is a good idea too, losing the plug doesn't mean too much on it's own as it can fall out/regrow constantly but combined with your other symptoms it's best to get checked out. You're not wasting their time! they want women to get checked over if there are any worries, they want you and baby to be healthy so it's no trouble to them.

One thing you should never give a single fart about when pregnant is "bothering" a busy midwife. So what if they are busy, this is your health and your baby. I would get checked personally, just in case even though it is probably nothing.

Yes, you get probably checked for dilation.... usually a non-stress test or similar to monitor your contractions... It's gonna be fine, and like I said, your baby would be just fine at this point, but the goal is to stay pregnant for a few more weeks.
