Baby in 80th Percentile at 30 Weeks

Baby is in the 80th percentile, does this mean he will come earlier than expected because he is considered a "big baby" or that I can get induced earlier?

My EDD is July 22, but measuring a week ahead so at 34 weeks Baby was already 5lb.

Anyone have a big baby and when did baby come?

My DS measured a couple of weeks ahead on fundal height, I didn't have a scan around your gestation so I don't know what centile he would have been. But where i am they wouldn't induce early just for being higher up on the centiles for weight anyway (unless you were way up there). I'm in the UK though.
He was 97th centile at birth and was born at 42 weeks (after being induced, he was in no rush to come out )

My first-born, who would have been over 9 lbs if born on due date, came 12 days early. My fourth-born was born one day late weighing 9lb2oz. Where I live in the US, hospitals try very hard not to let anyone get an elective induction (which that'd be classed as) before 40 weeks.

My son was weighing ahead and they initially tried to book me in for induction 2 weeks early but the hospital was overbooked, so they ended up inducing me a few days early instead. I was in no rush for him to come out though
In the end, he wasn't that big anyway! 8lb3 so definitely not huge.

This baby I'm pregnant with now was measuring in the 80th percentile at my anatomy scan. Now I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead according to fundal height. I know my dates so I'm putting it down to another big baby. My first was born 2 days from her due date at 9 lbs. My second was born at 37w3d weighing 7lbs. 14oz. They told me he would have been between 9 1/2 to 10 lbs by his due date at the rate he was growing. My third was born a week from her due date weighing 8 lbs even. All were considered "big" for their gestational age. It seems like after my 9 lber my body said NEVER AGAIN (she was a difficult birth because she was positioned wrong and kept getting stuck behind my pubic bone) and so my subsequent babies came when they were the size of average full term babies, whatever week that happened to land on. I'm assuming this baby will follow suit and will come early too.

It really just depends upon the person. Typically our bodies don't make babies larger than we can handle but if you're concerned about size, I know a couple people who had elected for induction because they feared their babies wouldn't be able to pass through their pelvises. Just bring it up to your doctor and see what they think. Usually doctors won't induce until you're about 38/39 weeks though.

My eldest was a week early at 8lb 15oz, they took her early due to size. Honestly some do and some don't, most will wait to see if he stays at the 80th percentile so you will potentially have weeks and another growth scan to come. He could have hit a growth spurt early but either way it doesn't mean anything about when they'll come naturally. GL hun just a few more weeks

Thanks for all the replies! I guess I am just so uncomfortable that I feel like he is going to come early - but who knows! My next appointment is next Friday, so we will see how much the LO has grown!

I measured two weeks ahead by fundal height with my last. He was about two weeks early and only 7 pounds 6oz.

Sophie was tracking on the 86th centile during my pregnancy with her, I had a c-section at 39+2 and there was zero signs she was coming early. She was 7lbs 15oz at birth.

Emma was tracking around the 60th centile in scans but my fundal height was 7-8 weeks ahead, she was 7lbs 8oz at 38+9 and was not ready to be born, had very wet lungs and was wisked off to the SCBU, was an elective c-section.

To compare, my son arrived at 40+6 and was 7lbs 4oz. I was a small baby at 5lbs 15oz and my OH was 6lbs 2oz so to me/my family my girls sounded huge!

Went back just 10 days later to my OB and Baby is now 5lb 10 oz and I am measuring 35 weeks. He is gaining an ounce a day, which OB says is normal.
