Who's been to labor and delivery already for a "false alarm"?

I've gone THREE times since last Friday, only for my hopes to be crushed and resolve to have an epidual-free labor to be torn away at. I'm slowly progressing, but have stalled out at 3cm / 70% effaced / -2 station.

I've had prodromal labor all week that's so bad I can't care for my toddler and kindergartener, but no idea what to do since I can't keep calling family over or asking my husband to stay home from work!

I'm absolutely exhausted from the day in and day out contractions, but don't want to keep taking the Tylenol + Codeine they prescribed since it makes baby sluggish. I ugly cried in front of a bunch of med students today when I found out the 12 hours of contractions I'd endured did nothing.

Who else has gone in only to be sent home??

Ugh that sounds horrible! Both times I've had labour do that stop start thing - but I did have days in between with no contractions, so at least I could recover a bit. I ended up being induced at 9 days over with my first as it never went anywhere and I had borderline high blood pressure, and with my second I went into labour after a sweep at 9 days over.

Can you ask for a stretch and sweep to see if it gets things moving? I know you likely don't want to be induced, but you also need to look after yourself - can you talk to your midwife about options?

With my first it was constant contractions like that and like you they weren't doing anything . AND also like you, it was after a huge meltdown, ugly cry that my water broke and I went into full labor lol. Funny how that happens!! Good luck!!!
