Please help me with some positive thinking - imminent labour

I had about an hour's sleep last night and some very disturbed nights previously so that isn't helping matters, but im very anxious and upset today about imminent labour. Contractions have been on and off after a sweep yesterday and I'm just so scared of the pain that's coming, tired of waiting and anxious about not knowing when things are going to start. I don't know where this is coming from as I've had two good (relatively speaking) and pretty speedy labours already and didn't feel this bad with either of those.

I need some positive thoughts! Please, please help me through these last stages, because I'm really struggling right now.

It's easy to worry. I sure hope those contractions get stronger. You're a strong woman. You will smash it. Good luck.

You got this! You already had two healthy babies, your body knows just what to do! Try not to worry too much! Is there anyone you can talk to that might ease your anxieties?

I think number three is the special number as I've been feeling the same way. Number one you had no clue what to expect, number two it is easy to forget the difficulty since you know the baby is coming (and of course our brain tends to look back as it is not that bad) but number three you know the pain, you know what's coming and even though youre excited youre (at least I am lol) terrified. You got this hun as the others said you've done it twice. Your body knows what to do, you know what to do and hopefully it goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. Congratulations you'll be holding your baby shortly.

When I got pregnant with my 3rd I couldn't wait to go through labour and birth again, I found it really addictive. Until I was scheduled for an induction that is, and suddenly I was freaking out! I was scared of the pain (despite being fine the previous 2 times), scared of the unknown. It ended up being my quickest labor and the pushing (which was the bit I was really not looking forward to) seemed to take no time at all and was a lot less painful than in my other labors. I felt much better afterward much quicker too, a lot of people I know with 3+ kids said the same, it's like your body is used to it and gets over labor faster.
I'm jealous that I don't get to go through labor again now

The unknown is hard, especially if one pregnancy is very different than others you have experienced. I can relate. With my first child, I went into labor on my own and she was born on her due date. Though the labor was painful, I felt comfort in knowing that I started on my own and she was ready. With this baby, I felt less stressed about going into labor until I didn't! I am 4 days overdue and I was starting to get quite anxious since it looks like I may need to be induced and it is a totally different experience for me.

I have recently accepted that each pregnancy is different. We are carrying these precious lives and our doctors are monitoring us. The pregnancy and delivery will not be the same, but as long as the doctors keep checking the baby and the baby is fine--try not to stress too much.

Your body has done this twice, and it can do it again!

Thanks everyone! I ended up going into labour only a few hours after posting this and our little boy was born at 11.16pm that night. I ended up coping really well considering. The contractions were manageable with my tens machine and hot water bottle up until the pushing stage when things got much more intense. But we got through it and I have my gorgeous little Theodore to show for it. Good luck everyone with your own birthing experiences and little ones!
