Estimated weight at 37 weeks

Hi ladies
So had a growth scan yesterday due to previous big babies and was told she's weighing 7lbs 7oz at 37 weeks. Does this seem big or average ? I went 13 days overdue with my other 2 pregnancies so had to be induced, they won't induce me early this time either x

I've just had a scan today at 36 and 4 days and baby was weighing 7lb 6oz..
but they said its really not accurate as the one last week said it was 6lb 8oz. Mine is showing a slightly larger head so is probably bumping up the weight estimate.
I am being induced at 38 weeks due to large 2nd baby and bad recovery following forceps. I pushed for a section but was not approved.

I was told my boy was going to be huge (my last scan with him was at 36 weeks, but that was only cause I participated in a study, or I wouldn't have had the scan at all) - I believe the words they used were "off the scale" big lol. I never got an actual weight estimate. He was born at 39w6d and was 8.8pounds, so really he was just the larger end of average I'd say. Although if I'd gone a week or 2 over, he probably would have reached low end of 9 pound I suppose.

Can I ask why they want to do scans to check the growth, if they don't plan to actually induce early anyway? Is it just for their records?

I can't believe they won't induce you, that should be up to you! My last girl was born the day before her due date and was 7 lbs 7 oz but she had measured slightly on the smaller end the whole pregnancy. The girl I'm carrying now has always measured bigger. Last week when I was 35+4 she weighed 6lbs 6oz and they said she was measuring about a week or so ahead. So that makes me think that your baby is maybe only a few ounces or so above average. You should be allowed to induce at 39-40 weeks, especially if they think she's going to be really big, that just doesn't sound right of them to do and not particularly safe for you. Hopefully they'll at least do some membrane stripping before then to help naturally induce!

Why would you want to be induced early?

I had a growth scan at 36/37 weeks and they said she was going to be big. Around 9lbs as she was already 7.5 . She was born 3/4 weeks later at 7lb7 so mine was not at all accurate! If really is just an estimation so don't put too much on it x

They don't induce early unless there's good reason because every day counts for baby. It's not a pick n mix pick your slot, it's about baby's needs. I was estimated 6.5lb at just under 34 weeks BTW!
