2 gestational diabetes questions

Have any of you lovely ladies ever tested +1 for glucose in your pee but not been diagnosed with GD?
Also, if you HAVE ever had GD did you suspect a problem before being diagnosed, were there any symptoms?
I had the GTT at 28wks because my mum is type 2 (she had GD 4 times before she developed GD) but I tested negative for that. I'm 36+4 today and went to the hospital yesterday for reduced movement and irregular tightenings. They tested my pee and it cane back +1 for the first time in any of my pregnancies (this is my 3rd baby). I do have some symptoms but mostly ones that could just be normal pregnancy stuff like constant hunger, quite thirsty, peeing a lot and being very tired.

I had gd in my first pregnancy and this one. Never had glucose in my urine with my DD but did once in this pregnancy. The diabetic nurse wasn't worried though, she said it can happen when you've not ate in a awhile and normally nothing to worry about. She checked for ketones in my blood and there was none just to re-assure me. My main symptom both times was being very thirsty. I wouldn't worry too much particularly if it's a one off, maybe ask them to check your blood for ketones? It's just a prick finger test.

Ive had it in my urine but passed the 3 hour so it doesn't mean you necessarily have it.

Yeah just because there is some in your urine doesn't mean you have it. It can just happen now and again. If you are worried you have it the only way to know is a 3hr fasting glucose test or by finger prick for a few days but to be honest you are so near your due date that even if they found out now it's pretty much too late to change anything as it would take a while to figure out treatment. If you are worried you can follow a GD diet for next week or so because that is what they would start you on as treatment first anyway x

I had sugar in my urine 3 times with DD but wasn't ever tested for GD, presumably because there isn't any family history/normal weight. My best friend who had GD never showed sugar in her urine and she was on insulin as her levels were so high so I don't think it means anything. x

Thank you everyone my mum has done a finger prick test on me a couple of times and my blood sugar has been fine so hopefully it was just a fluke!
