Big Brother/Sister gift?

I want to get my 2 year old something from baby brother but I honestly have zero ideas. I cant think of anything and was wondering if you guys have done this in the past or doing this with your current pregnancy.

I have bought her a playmobil school thing which I will give her from baby. A friend told me to give them something they can play with independently rather than something like arts and crafts or a book that will need you to be involved too. That way you get a bit of a break and try get a new toy! Also my husband will take my eldest to buy a toy for the baby while I'm in hospital so she feels involved too, just a cuddly thing x

My daughter is ballet/princess mad, so I was going to pick her up a book about one (or both) of those. She also loves dressing up, so I'm going to get her an outfit of some kind as well.

I've got him a DVD I know he'll really like for baby to give him, as a pp said that'll also distract him when we get home!
My parents have bought him a dinosaur toy he'll really love, not from the baby but just from them as a new big brother present.

My daughter is a bit older and very sentimental so we are going to get her a piece of jewelry that says Big Sister to give her when her little sister is born.

Love these ideas ladies. I still am not 100% sure what I will get him but it will be something small. I like the idea of him "buying" a stuffed animal for baby though.

I personally won't because I don't think it's needed. MIL also had a bad habit of giving something to the other child when it wasn't their Birthday so they wouldn't feel 'left out'. This sort of thing has caused nothing but problems for us so we don't bother. It's a life lesson they can deal with.

My daughter is nearly 4. I got her a music box with some children's jewelry in it, and wound it up so it will start to play as soon as she opens it.

We have also kept babies name a secret and have written my daughter a card from her sister that will go with the gift and signed her name at the bottom. So it's a special way of my little girl being the first to learn her sisters name.
