Shoulder dystocia and VBAC

My first was 9 pound and had shoulder dystocia resulting in a 3rd degree tear which resulted in my 2nd being a planned c section

I was going for a elective c section this time and i had a consultant ask if i would consider a natural birth even though they cant guarantee that shoulder dystocia wont happen again. Has anyone else had this problem and what would you do?? i see the consultant again on next week to get my c section date or to discuss the possibility of a natural birth. If i go for a natural i am going to push my luck and ask to be induced at 38 weeks as i am terrified of the same thing happening again.

I wouldnt have a clue what to do hun, I am not a big fan of needles at the best of times.....Although the thought of going through a natural with shoulder dystocia is really not appealing at all, but I guess you dont really know this before hand.......If the baby was a fair size I would probably be tempted to go with a section......

I thought they don't induce on a vbac. i've been told they won't induce and if I go overdue after 1 week they will do a c-section.

I remember a mw saying that they wont induce you on a vbac now that you mention it. She said they can do a sweep, but that the most they can do, no induction, so if you werent lucky enough to go into labour naturally, then it will be a section....

my little man had this, they didn't pick up on it until he was ready to come out and i ended up having an emergency forceps delivery.
If bubs is smaller this time then the chances are alot smaller, have you had growth scans?
Personally i'd just have the c-section. But then again i had a ten pounder and wouldnt want a natural delivery ever again!

Its all so confusing as i was all geared up for having another section and because i have been having pre labour signs the consultant said i can have the option of trying to give birth on my own or a section.

All i remember about my daughters birth was being induced at 42 weeks and the midwife screaming at me to push and then screaming at me to stop pushing and going pure white and all these doctors and other midwives storming in the room and the pain of the doctor getting her out.

A week prior to her birth i had a sweep which dident work. I think i will just go for the section again then

I had shoulder dystocia with my 3rd child, he was 9lb 7 at 38 weeks and I had a 3rd degree external and internal tear..with my 4th I was induced at 38 weeks and had a really easy birth with no shoulder dystocia..but I beleive they wont induce if youve had a previous section
