People have described Braxton Hicks to me and they always say it's like a tightenning - now I can't tell if this is tightenning but I definately feel sharp pains down there now and again. Like a stabbing. It literally stops me in my steps and happens often when I get out the shower; ie, when I am standing for a fairly long period of time.
Is this what you ladies are talking about or is this something completely different?
Not sure mate, but think it could be the baby pressing down on your cervix? I get the same thing and my baby is now engaged so I'm guessing that's what it is. As far as I know, Braxton Hicks is more of a tightening sensation that happens further up the bump...but I'm not really sure I'm not sure I've definitely had them. Hope that helps anyway...
Ive been getting similar pains for the last week too. Almost like baby is trying to nuzzle his way further down with his head, feels a bit like when you come on your period?? is that similar to what you get? dont think its BH but then again i got nothing to compare it to as this is my first. At MW wed i was 2/5th engaged.
I have started getting these stabbing pains in my vagina (only 2 times) and I don't know what it is either! I have also started getting these sharp stabbing pains in my lower stomach, kind of like really hard period pains, I was thinking they were BH but my stomach isn't tightening either, and they are very random, only happened twice two....
You will know BHs when you feel them. It's like having a blood pressure cuff expanding around your bump... you'll feel it getting tighter and tighter, then it will hold for a few seconds, then start easing off the same way the blood pressure cuffs do. Once you have one you'll have no doubt what you are feeling is a contraction.
