isofix or surefix?? is there a list? :-(

Hi, I am at that stage of car seat time, well, I have the car seat but yet to buy the base (never needed these things, well, they never had them when we had No.1).
Is there a list of cars which come with Isofix and I am correct in assuming that those that don't will only take Surefix?
I have googled my car, 2004 Skoda Fabia VRS and some do and some don't, perhaps it was an optional extra (or maybe it was standard on 54 plates rather than 04...)
I have a mamas and papas skate and the primo viaggio car seat and even mamas and papas don't have a list of models
I have been through the manual (it was a second hand car) and nothing in there, short of pulling my car apart, does anyone know of such a list, or even an easy way of telling??
Thank you!!

hun there would be a little logo near the bottom of the seat back saying isofix if your car had it so id go for a surefix base if i were you, i have to talk dh into getting the isofix base for our Primo viaggio carseat as we only got the surefix one with it when we brought it as we brought it before we brought the car as part of the whole travel system we got,

aha, thank you.. that makes sense, my dad said that brand new cars have it and the seat 'secretly' comes apart in the back as well - but he is 56 so I didn't take what he said as gospel!
I know that there are no labels or tags on the seat so I think you are probably right - Surefix.
I just got even more confused the other day when I nosed in my neighbours 2004 plate Mercedes and she had Isofix, but then again, it is a Merc!
It's an expensive thing to buy isn't it

if you look at the bottom of your rear seats where the seat meets the seat back thats where the anchorage points are, if they are there they will be discreetly hidden, but obvious if you are looking for them iykwim

i have a 54 plate octavia which does have them, but i never bought a base lol

i brought an 08 golf with the built in points for isofix so it confused me when we had a hire car while ours was in getting work done ( somone backed into my rear door ) and i had to use the yellow clips that came with DS's carseat to click the isofix into the hire car

yep surefix attaches into your car with the seat belt then the babyseat gets clicked into the base so can fit any car so long as your seats arent really oddly shaped

sorry to hijack - but if your car does have isofix, how does that make it different when it comes to fitting your car seat? Do you still need to buy a separate base?

no you dont ever have to buy a base it is purely a choice thing

isofix points will attach either the base or the actual car seat as an alternative method to seatbelt fixing, but you dont NEED a base. they are only a convienience option to save you having to install the seat each time you go in the car

there is no room for error with isofix unlike seatbelt routing, but if you install your seat correctly using the belt it will be just as safe as an isofix installation

bases just like seats do not fit ALL cars and you would still need to check your base/seat will fit your model of car
