Growth Scan at 28wks

Ok i hope i get some replies to this.

I had my growth scan yesterday because doc thought baby could be small for dates. Day of scan i was 28wks 4days. The sonographer said he was measuring at 28wks. Est weight was 2lbs 9oz. He checked the heart, stomach, head size. Nothing else in great detail. All he said afterwards was he's small but nothing to be concerned about. He didn't check amniotic fluid (maybe it might be in report). Because i'm getting a lot of movements he said not to worry.

Have any of you had growth scans at 28wks? if so how was your baby?

I thought this was putting me at ease but i don't have antenatal until next thurs and they will go over scan with me.

hey, i had my 28 week growth scan yesterday too at 28 weeks 5 days, and my baby was measuring 2 lbs 14 oz (not much more than yours) and i was told he was totally normal, if anything a teeny bit big?! so i dont know how your baby could be small (enough for him to mention it to you anyways)
ive heard the baby can measure anywhere between 2 weeks behind and 2 weeks in front and that is totally normal! .... i really wouldnt worry, sounds like your baby is coming along fine xx

I had my growth scan last week at 28 weeks and baby Caleb was weighing 2lbs 6 ounces so smaller than that. I have another one in 3 weeks, he was slightly small but nothing to be worried about my consultant said. I will let you know how I get on at the next one, its on 31st march and I will be 31 weeks x

My baby was estimated 3lb 7oz at 30+4 so sounds about right to me I know most people who've had growth scans at 28 weeks have said their babies were around 2.5lbs so don't worry xx

I have no idea why he mentioned baby was "small". It was at the hospital. usually i go to a radiology place but couldn't get in for 2wks. Next time i'll wait and go to my regular scanner! I wasn't happy with the hospital bloke at all.

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to relax and and enjoy the rest of my pregnancy.

at 27+4 my bubs was estimated at 2lb 11oz.
Bear in mind I'm 5ft 10 and on my growth chart I was measuring in between the middle and top percentile thingy, so I've got a big un on my hands

So I think your measuring fine hon x

I had a growth scan at 25 weeks, because little un was big! hes measuring in at a week and half early, I was told I didn't need to worry, and that his growth may slow down or I may go into labour early. The lady measured his abdomin and head (I think) and then gave me a graph, and said hes just outside 'what is normal' .. and that I had to wait a month for another scan.. so I sat worried to death for a month until I went back for a 28 week scan.. and he was still big, but they said his growth had slowed down and it was nothing to worry about. I think, what they mean, is, they go off averages.. and if your little un is outside that average, little un is considered small or big.. I was told to expect a big baby (9lb odd) so you probably will have a little baby (6lb to 7lb)

I think if you have not gone under consultant care, theres nothing to worry about x

I had grwoth scan at 28 weeks and baby estimated at 2lb 10 oz, I was told baby was small but still within averag sze for baby basically was right on the avergaest average line.

Then at 32 weeks I had another scan and bubs estimated at 4lb 40z they still said small but still average.

BAsically on the graph there are three lines 25th 50th and 95th centile. Basically 5oth centile is average average, and anything kinda between these lines is 'ok'
