Black dots in front of eyes

Hey ladies, wondered if anyone had experienced this and could offer their advice/opinions?

Recently I've been seeing little black dots in front of my eyes... It's happened about 3 times I think and today it was just as I started feeling sick/a bit light-headed because I hadn't eaten yet... I HAVE had it before I was pregnant, probably 2-3 times, once when I was playing rounders at school and I literally swiped out because I thought there were little flies buzzing around me....and the spots I've been seeing recently are nowhere near as bad - they're smaller, there are less of them and they only last a few seconds....

I was just wondered what could be causing this. I know high blood pressure can be one reason, but I always had low blood pressure before I was pregnant (ridiculously so at times) and it seems to have balanced out to 'normality' since I've been pregnant. My MW has said my blood pressure is 'perfect' at every appointment so far (not that that means it doesn't have the capacity to change, but it's been around the same every time)...could it be a vitamin deficiency? I'm not taking prenatals regularly and probably haven't been eating enough recently (had a bit of an off tummy) to get enough of what I need atm.......

What do you think? I have a MW appointment tomorrow so I will mention it to her of course, but just wanted some opinions.

xx

I have this too, and I've got low blood pressure lately. It may have something to do with it. Also, my midwife said low blood pressure is actually not anything to worry about, it just means your heart doesn't need to work as hard. :-)

Told my midwife about this. I get headaches and nose bleeds just after the black dots too.
She said my bp is a little high and she thinks that I've been overdoing it a bit.

BUT if you KEEP having this, and you CAN'T make them go away, and they last longer than about 5-10 mins a time please phone your midwife and book an emergency appointment.

Luckily mine stop after about 3 mins, and I only have it about twice a day, but she was really worried before checking me over.

Good luck sweetie x

OHh just remembered what midwife was mumbling about. Could be a lack of Iron! Ask her at your next appointment if you don't feel you need to see her immediately!

I have it all the time.Eye floaters are common in pregnancy... ( I actually think theres bugs on the wall sometimes ) They are caused by trapped protein in the eye so i've heard. I'm not all that clued up on the human eye though!! lol so i'm not much help..... My midwife thought it was lack of iron as my blood pressure is fine... but my iron come back fine Just another pregnancy niggle .. but best to get everything ruled out...

I don't know why this happens.. my BP is fine, and I don't think it is a deficiency because I take my pre-natals every day, and my iron count is still fine.
I get it with the black spots, at first I thought a load of midgets were flying around my head! And I've had it with white spots, and I thought it was starting to snow!
I think it's just a pregnancy symptom, at least there's no explanation for why it happens to me yet xxxx

Thank you

I have a feeling it's to do with my iron, I just took one of my huge prenatals, so we'll see if they happen again...it's not really frequent enough to monitor though, so I couldn't really say if it gets better, than if I just take my prenatal every day again and the dots don't happen... I've been feeling kind of lethargic (but had this possible virus thing which could have had me run down) so... I think my MW can do a finger prick test for my iron levels (ick) anyway. And I guess we'll see how my blood pressure is doing tomorrow too!

xx

Surely if it was floaters then it would be more frequent?
