Is it safe to take a bath while dilated?

I am sooooo uncomfortable. I am at least 1 cm dilated if not more...and partly effaced. I have also lost pieces of my mucus plug I believe...can I take a bath?

I might be wrong.. But I'm sure you can take a bath inless you're waters have broke because of the risk of infection?? I might be wrong though.. You could always ring labour ward and ask the question I'm sure they wouldn't mind! xx

I think the same as the others, thought it was recommended for easing pain. But if you're not sure ring the labour ward, at least they can give you a quick and certain answer x

I agree with KayleighJayne, as long as your waters haven't broken then its fine to take a bath - once they have broke there is a risk of infection as this is the protection for the baby.

The labour ward will encourage you to do anything to make you feel more comfortable, especially in the early stages.

Enjoy your bath hun and good luck

it's not recommended if your waters have broken, but you should be fine if it's only the plug that has gone. x
