pain relief

Just curious as to what pain relief everyone is planning for the birth?

Also, what pain relief is available in the UK?

With my DD I had gas & air, pethidine(which did nothing but make me throw up) and an epi (which in my opinion caused probs) so this time I would IDEALLY like just gas and air, but my view on that will prob change in the throes of labour

I'm planning on having an epidural! When I went to antenatal class, they said the forms of pain relief are gas and air, pethadine, and also natural stuff like massage, water birth etc x

I'm hoping to just use G&A, but if I need Diamorphine I won't worry about it. At the end of the day, noone will give me a medal for not having pain relief

I'm having a home birth, so am pretty limited to what relief I can have - TENS machine, G&A and the birth pool are my options....but I plan not to use G&A until I really have to.
Last time I had G&A which is wondeful stuff, diamorphine which knocked me out for 4 hours, and an epidural which I HATED, didn't work first time, then I hated not being able to move

I'm the same - having a home birth so at the moment just G&A (which I love so would probably use it even if I didn't need it )

I might get TENS, have a homeopathic remedy (which I don't know whether to rely on or not) and breathing techniques.

last time i had everything going! g&a, which was good, pethadine, which did sfa! and an epi!

The epi was good but i had no control, and didnt like the fact that i couldnt move for hours after giving birth!!

This time ive got a tens machine and hoping for just gas and air.Thinking i'm more prepared, and hoping the rlt has done its magic!
