Uric acid is something usually passed in your wee. Where do you have high levels, in your blood? It could be a sign your kidneys aren't working as well as they ought to be as the kidneys usually take the uric acid out of your blood.
Gout is also when you have too much uric acid and it forms crystals in your joints (ouch!).
ETA I just found something saying that high uric acid can be a sign of preeclampsia.
Raising levels of Uric Acid in your blood during pregnancy is a sign of Pre-Eclampsia. If you are being investigated for Pre-eclampsia alongside having blood pressure checks and urine checking then this Uric Acid level over a period of time is a good indicator if you are developing Pre-Eclampsia.
yeah they said it was in my blood but i was confused as to what it meant, i'd not heard of it. I hope i dont have preeclampsia, i am being checked for high bp and the past few days it hasnt been too bad but i now have high uric acid levels if it's not one thing it's another! thanks for the replies
I think it's just slowly creeping up cause each week it's a new symptom, last week was the protein & this uric acid appeared yesterday.
Hopefully it stays stable till i go into labour + i'm keeping a close eye out for symptoms. I have my nan every 2 mins .. you dont have any pain do you, hows the head, bless her !
Yeah, its about the trend aswell and not just the number which is why if you are having regular bloods they are normally done every other day to see what the trend is doing. You can have a Uric Acid of 500 (.5) and they may not do anything without the whole picture, having more than one result helps.
