pumping to induce labor? PLEASE HELP!

i am miserable. i have had a horrible pregnancy and i honestly cant do this much longer... i am 5' 3'' and was 100lbs before pregnancy I am now up to 140lbs. Its ALL stomache. I have back problems and have been having trouble walking.. Preterm labor and false labor. I am just dying here.

Baby is completley engaged.
I want her out.

What do you guys think about pumping to start labor? Has it worked for anyone?

I'm planning on it, but not quite at eviction mode yet, sorry.
I know you 'll need to try it for at least an hour if not two for it to be effective. Good luck hun x.

My doctor says if I use a breast pump my uterus will start contracting and I should go into labor

yea they do say that stimulting your nipples works.... here i googled it...

nipple stimulation causes the release of oxytocin, the same hormone that causes uterine contractions. Many women report, however, that the contractions produced from this method are much stronger and more painful than natural labor, but are not any more effective. Please note: In order to use this method for induction, you must stimulate the nipples for long periods of time. The usual recommendation is 15 minutes of continual stimulation on each nipple each hour for several hours. So, the amount of stimulation you may experience during intimacy, while nursing an older child, or while pumping your breasts while pregnant will not cause you to go into labor. The general recommendation on these activities is to abstain from them when your condition warrants doctor recommended pelvic rest.

.................. ''Many women report, however, that the contractions produced from this method are much stronger and more painful than natural labor, but are not any more effective.'' i dont see how that could be true tho.... if your starting labour by stimulating your nipples id say thats a pretty natural way of inducing yourself wouldnt you??!!

My doctor told me to try nipple stimulation also. I tried with the breast pump but it was kinda weird and I was actually pumping out a lot of colostrum!! So I stopped. But I am going to do it manually tonight (using the heel of your hand and rubbing your nipples)
Stimulation may cause contractions, but not necessarily labor. Also sucking your thumb works for some women...try it!

I did the whole manual nipple stimulation not aware that it causes contractions, but in my head I was toughening them up to breastfeed! WILL NOT DO AGAIN!! It made me contract so hard I thought I was going to end up in the hospital...so now I'm even careful about when I put on that nipple cream stuff at night to do it as lightly as possible...so just maybe it'll work for ya!

You could end up with contractions but my concern would be that if you aren't ready to dilate (this isn't based on contractions) you'll be even worse off. In pain with strong contractions and that could land you in hospital being induced (they can give you gel to help ripen the cervix)
