Enema to induce labor?

Has anyone heard of this? My friend told me about this the other day and basically it works the same as spicy food or castor oil, by stimulating the bowels. I have been trying to research it and found some sites that say that it may work. I am ready to try anything lol. (4 days overdue today) What do you ladies think? I don't want to do it if its dangerous!

Alot of hospitals give enemas before/during labor around here so that the woman doesnt have a bowel movement during labor and to speed up labor. I have never heard of it actually starting labor but it cant hurt to try it. Plus it only costs like $2. I also just decided it cant be more dangerous than a chemical induction which they are going to do to me next week if I cant get this started naturally.

Its only supposed to be used if your constipated before labour, it helps clear everything out.

They used to be standard in labour! Not common practise anymore here! Only to prevent poop in labour not to speed labour.

(shaving you in early stages of labour also used to be standard, again no longer common oractise in the UK)
