Cramp and growth spurt?

my first real thread over here in 3rd tri and i'm whingin already

This past week i've really been startin to suffer with cramp, in my feet, hands, in my legs (especially at night) and it's startin to happen in my back too aswell as dull achin. I'm not particularly big at the mo, i have a bump yes but i still have to tell people i'm pregnant (they jus think i'm fat grrrr). a lot of people have told me i'm probably ready to 'pop' as they call it (i.e. they make it sound like i'm gonna wake up one mornin and look like i've eaten a football). So 2 questions 1) has anyone else got cramp at this stage and is due to the extra blood flow? And 2) when did you 'pop'?

well thats 3 questions but whats a question between friends

I hate cramp !! I'm not sure why it happens, and I haven't noticed any increase in them during pregnancy... still just the odd calf cramp, which I'd usually get. Cramp is said to be to a Potassium deficiency.... try eating a Banana before bed, and massaging the areas where you cramp, to increase the circulation to that area...

As for the 'Popping' question... I never really pop... I just get mahoosive really quick and then remain that way

Ooo i never really got cramp before which is why i'm puttin it down to pregnancy. Eugh bananas r gross! I'll have a look 4 potasium enriched things, cereal n such like.

On the growth subject, well i got a bump quite early n it grows a lil each week but its still not clear to people which gets kinda annoyin! Tho at the same time i should be grateful coz i imagine its hard work cartin a bump around lol! If 30 weeks is right guess ia in't got long really

Hiya
I have just started getting cramp too, and it's the mother of all cramp starts off in my toes and goes right up my leg and stays there for what seems like hours! I'm not sure why it happens.
I had a growth spurt when i woke up this morning! Freaked me out a bit cos I was alot bigger than when i went to bed! At work today 3 people commented on my bump

This is exactly what my tummy looks like

I had a noticeable bump quite early - about 4 months. But everyone's different hun. I thought when you popped it just meant you got a bump - I haven't popped again since about 4 months - my football just gets steadily bigger!

Have you got yourself some lovely maternity clothes hun? Maybe you should treat yourself?

I get really bad cramp- the only thing that clears it is pulling my toes up!!So painful to do though.
I have also found the more i have my feet up the less i get it. I now have a foot stool at work, lol.
As to popping, im still waiting for it to happen. I have a eally small bump and have to tell people and if they do realise they think im about 2/3 months. But as long as your midwife is happy it doesnt matter like that!
Hope that helps xxx

yea i got maternity clothes quite early because i got a bump and quite bloated. I've been radin new look n dotty p's lol! The bump grows week on week but not much at all. People that know i'm pregnant comment on it but people that don't i have to tell. I had to tell a new girl in work the other week and she asked me if i'd told my parents yet and when was i booked in for my first scan it was quite funny tho to see her face turn red from the neck up when i told her i'd been there n done that i was 26 weeks gone!!

A couple of other things you can try for cramp:

1. Make sure you are drinking plenty, as cramp can be brought on by dehydration...

2. Marmite - I know, people either love it or hate it, but the odd spoonful of it now and then during the day seems to make cramp magically disappear.

3. Tonic Water - contains Quinine which again seems to prevent cramp.

Hope that helps hun!

My mum and sis bought me some nice things from DPs - they do some lovely stuff.

I'm sure you look lovely hun You know another benefit to having a nice neat bump - fewer stretch marks. You should see my tummy - it would scare small children

I hope you find a way to beat the cramp hun.
