what's the difference in a changing bag and a regular bag

hey ladies
so someone just gave me a black changing mat that folds up and goes into a bag and i was wondering if i now need a changing bag. aren't they the same thing as just a side bag with several pockets and then a matching changing mat?

i have loads of side bags as i'm a high school teacher and most of them are earthy colors and will look great with the black changing bag. i'm thinking of using one of them.

am i missing something? i read about choosing the right bag but i don't see the difference. please save me from my stupidity!

i think all the matters is that you have the stuff you need to change the baby when you are out. diapers, wipes, burp rags or even a hand towel will work, few changes of clothes, pacifiers and bottles if you need that kind of thing. the folded up changing pad is good if you need to change the baby while out so you can lay the bottom half on there and prevent any yucky mess getting on your say car seat or something. i prefer not to use those big changing stations in public bathrooms just because of all of the germs. this might sound weird but i brought a trash bag along with me if i did have to use a baby changing station at mcdonalds or something and you can lay the bag over the whole thing and just throw it away when you are done.

to answer your question finally, you could literally throw what you want in a walmart bag. there are no rules!!!! use the bag you have already if you like it and it fits what you need and just throw the changing mat in!!

It is personal choice, you can use a normal bag. My changing bag is easyclean inside, instead of material in most bags. It also has bottle holders and a bottle insulator to keep bottle hot/cold. It came with a changing mat and wipes box aswell x

To put different bits into in case of leaks/spills.
