RANT - Childcare - Mother

Hi Ladies,

just got off the phone to my mum and she is badgering me already about arraging a child minder for my baby. She says i have to arrange it now otherwise i wont find anyone when i need it.

Is she right?

i'm not due until December and very reluctant to arrange childcare before the baby is even born! i intend to go back to work around September next year.

Also the woman she wants me to call lives in a well known part of Swindon which is known for being very rough and i'm not sure i want my kid going there!

Erm.... no. If you intend on putting your LO into nursery, its good to put their names down sharp but i think its a bit early!
And its got sod all to do with your mum!

Seems slightly premature to me ifur not due till December and staying with baby till September. I'd leave it till after babys born personally. Although it might be worth checking with you local childcare info services to see if there are huge waiting lists for whatever type of childcare you're planning on.

yeah i thought it was a bit early. i know that i will need to arrange it a while before i need it but i want to at least wait until she is born!

In an ideal world i would love to stay at home and look after my LO myself but as my mortgage is pretty high i cannot afford to do so. Sucks.

Depends on your area. We were told to get on a waitlist this Sept for a nursery place next Sept, just due to high demand. However you should decide where the baby goes!!

My baby is due at the end of November and I already have a part time nursery place booked to start in June. It's been booked for a few months already. The nursery I chose got an outstanding ofsted report which means it is very over-subscribed. I got one of the last places for one of the days I needed.

In an ideal world I wouldn't need a nursery place at 6 months old but sometimes there is no other option.

I'm not sure whether childminders get booked up as quickly though
