Health visitor..?

I have the health visitor coming to my home today, only recieved the letter a few days ago. im not worried as i know its standard procedure but was just curious as to what she will actually talk to me about? also will she want to look round the home/nursery to see if its a suitable environment? i know they do that at some point so ive heard anyway. i still have 4 weeks to go the letter just says she will be coming for a home visit and to introduce herself...hope i like her! my friend hasnt long since had her baby and she cant stand her health visitor which is a shame seem as they are very involved with you and your baby for quite a while xx

I haven't heard anything from anyone about health visitors - wonder if it varies by area as to whether they come out before to see you

I had my visit today, she just said what their roles is and gave me the red book.

She also said when she will be seeing us again and what they do when they come around. And she also had a nosey in our room, but only because it was on the way out, don't think they go around checking everything. She saw we had a changing table and said '' you do know you can't ever leave the baby unattended here ''

Don't worry about it too much, I think most of them just see the first visit as a way of getting to know the mum before the baby is here.

Mine turned up totally un announced today and freaked me right out. She was with my midwife and simply asked me how I was feeling, was i going to breastfeed, a little about my five year old and gave me some books and leaflets, didn't look around or asked what i had ready at all. She left saying she would see me between 10 and 14 days after baby is born.
was quite nice but a bit of notice would have been better, good job the house was reasonably tidy! x
