Induction = likely C-Section?

Is it true that if you're induced you have more change of ending up needing an emergency c-section?#

Anyone know facts or figures?!

Fanks xxxxxx

From what I head it's only if you are induced by the hormone drip, not the pessary or gel. It's because the drip makes contractions much more painful, meaning you will probably have an epidural and since you can't walk then would be lying on your back and labour might fail to progress. Don't have any facts or figures though I'm afraid! xxx

I don't know the statistics either but I've been induced 3 times and I've not had any c-sections, don't know if that helps?

"With elective induction, the cesarean rate was 57%, significantly higher than the 31% rate with spontaneous labor"

Apparently!

I think you are at a slightly higher risk of labour resulting in a C-sec but I don't think it's innevitable. Only because an induction is trying to trick your body (and baby) into labour when it's not ready and sometimes body and baby don't want to play...! My sister had a C-sec with her first and she went into spontanious labour 11 days over due but her cervix refuse to dialate more than 6cm she laboured for 32hrs. My cousin was induced and had a vaginal 7hr labour...

I don't have the actually facts and figures but here's a little info

Hope this helps x

Thanks, I just want to get an idea of the facts. I'm currently 6 weeks too big with possible GD so I may be induced early.

I had the pessaries all 3 times, pixxie. First time was on my due date cos my blood pressure shot up and then at 10 and 13 days over with my 2nd and 3rd. Just took 1 attempt the last time!
