Would you be happy with a male midwife? Would you want a male delivering your baby?

Im just wondering really.
Im not 100% sure how I would feel about it. I wouldnt like any internals being done by a man, but that would only happen once in labour anyway, or for a sweep.
I guess I would kind of be wondering, why would a male want to do that job? I dont know why, because I think its probably an old fashioned way of thinking
Would you be happy with a male mw delivering your lo? Or being your regular mw at your booking in appointments?

I don't think I mind at all .. I actually get on better with male medical professionals I think. I recently had an ultrasound and HB monitoring with a lovely male doctor, who minutes before seeing me had performed a successful emergency c-section! ... I subsequently found him quite attractive! and he was so caring about my baby, said he loved the name Tabitha

I have been prewarned that there are two males MWs on my birthing unit, so could have a male midwife. I don't think I or anybody else would be bothered once we are in labour.

Plus they won't be looking at us when doing internals as sexual objects it is there job. That sort of like saying would you want a lesbian MW doing internals?

My gynae is a male and I really do not mind.

I wouldn't think normally I would like it. But then I imagine Dell off of Private Practice and think I would love one!

Hmmm I don't think I'd like it very much... I'm all for equality but I wouldn't want a guy poking about in my bits!! I think labour and delivery are very primal things and anything that makes you unsettled can hamper its progress etc... for me (and just my opinion..) a man I didn't know would probably do that xx

I dont care what the sex of the midwife is as long as they know what they are doing!

I dont mind in the slightest, i am sure they will be fine.

Though my friend did say that when she was in labour a man came into her room her description of him is that he was built like a rugby player well over 6ft and hands like shovels. He asked her if she was ready to be checked? She started carrying on that hands that size werent going anywhere near her foof, he just laughed he wasnt a midwife but a health care assistant and had popped in to let her know the midwife was on her way and to help her back on the bed!

I am sure by the time i am in labour anybody helping me to get Isobel out is ok!

No problem with this at all.

I think I would initially be a little surprised but they are there to do a job and assist in the most important experience of your/ my life.

I would however be embarrased (I think) if he was cute and my OH was there as I'd giggle.

When my husband changed over to my dentist, my OH came home and said he understood why I have regular checkups

A male midwife delivered my neice and nephew in the same hospital I delivered Mia in, and was so hoping I'd get him, but I didnt!

To be honest, the female midwifes I had were so awful, telling me to stop fussing, 'they had been through it and it doesnt hurt THAT bad'!!!
I cant see a male saying that kind of thing, as obviously he'd have never have experienced labour pain!!

My OB/GYN is an older male and will be delivering little Peyton. I didn't really have a choice I'm kind of shy, but he seems to be a fairly respected doctor so I'm trusting him with my baby girl.
