It means that something is starting to happen could still be a few days though up to a week if it's your first

certainly means things are starting atleast, however slowly it may be!

I had to go in to delivery for monitoring last night coz of contractions, little madam is fully engaged and they said i was 80% effaced but not dilated so let me come home again! Contractions are still going every few minutes, just not getting more painful

Hopefully things will move along soon for us both!

i have been told that effacement is a bigger indicator of impending labor than being dilated. i bet your gonna go into labor really soon. and it usually makes your labor quicker too

Yep - In subsequent pregnancies you usually dilate first, but don't efface until going into or in labor. But its vice versa for first time moms!

lol- i am usually dilated to 2-3 at least a week or two before going into labor now! sometimes even longer. i usually dont efface until about a week before and only get to about 30-50% at the most.

is this your first baby, lovemy bump?
