38 weeks vibrating baby?Advice please!

Hi Ladies,
My OH and I were relaxing earlier and all of a sudden my stomach started vibrating- OH was leaning on me so he felt it too. It was like babies feet were going a million miles an hour.

It only lasted for about 5 seconds but really scared me and in our pregnancy books it says that to contact dr/midwife if you get any erratic or frantic movement.

I rand delivery suite and (for the first time ever) there was a right moody MW on the end of the phone who told me that I she probably has hiccups and to ring back later if I was still concerned.

Now, baby has hiccups loads and i've never ever felt it like that before. She seems to be moving ok since then but it shook me up a bit.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? It would just be good to know if others have felt the same thing.

Thanks

Hi hun, I remember a thread being posted about this before. Sorry can't find it now, but apparently when you get shaking/vibrating feeling in your bump its LO stretching. They have a reflex where when they stretch their muscles shake vigorously.

If you are concerned definately call the delivery suite again and don't count on my answer, but I remember this from the previous thread and I have felt this sensation a few times particularly by my ribs x hope this helps x

Sounds like the stretching thing that people have mentioned previously. I have only felt it once or twice and it is quite alarming as it feels as if LO is having a fit but lots of people seem to get it.

I get this a lot. I just assumed it was hiccups, but maybe it was baby stretching.
