When can you have reflexology?

Do you have to be 40 weeks or can you go at 37?

Would love a foot rub, but cant decide on whether to just have a pedi or reflexology?

You can have reflexology any time you want, though in the first three month you might want to check with your doctor(if any one from first tri is reading!) its super good for you and baby. Not too expensive either !

I've been having it since around 4 months. Perfectly safe as long as therapist isnt trying to induce labour! Since 39 weeks i've been asking her to step it up a notch, which has been truly wonderful.... but hasnt set me off into labour (evidently!). So as a methos for getting babba out, it didnt work for me. But it has been by far the most relaxing part of my weeks. xx

Hi
I'm a reflexologist so thought could help here.
basically you can have reflexology at any time during pregnancy. A trained reflexologist will know what areas to avoid. These are the ovaries, uterus reflex points on the feet that are situated just a bit lower and either side of the ankle bone - workign these points can stimulate the body going into labour. Reflexologists vary on when they like to start workign these points and it would depend on your case history. Noone would work them before 37 weeks but some may start working them at 37 weeks v. gently - for instance if you had medical reason that would prefer an earlier delivery. I myself wouldn't work on inducing labour until 39-40 weeks - due to the litgation culture we live in. It's v. effective if you have a treatment just for bringing on labour which would involve 20-45mins of just stimulating these points along with the other hormone points. I'm getting my hubby to start rubbing my feet, by guiding him at around 37 weeks but only workign the hormone areas and not the uterus so gear my body up. As soon as I get to 38 I'm happy for him to start working the uterus. I will ask a refelexology friedn to come and give me an intese labour treatment once I'm 39 weeks and will have every couple days. Hope this helps xxxxxxx

Just found this on a search and want to say thanks for the info - I really need the relaxation so I think I am going to call my reflexologist on Monday and see if she can start treating me again - she was the one that helped to get me pg but I stopped going once I got pg and then couldn't go in 2nd tri because of my sickness etc.
