Heartburn/sick/blood in mouth at night

I wake up every night without a doubt at 2am with really bad heartburn, sometimes I have been sick in my sleep and other times it's just the heartburn, I've also started waking up sometimes with a really sore throat and blood in my mouth. Feels as though my throat is cut or something, could the heartburn be making me bleed and should I tell midwife it's got this bad, she knows I get heartburn and have been sick in my sleep but didn't seem phased by it. Just said sit up in bed.

Anyone else had the blood in mouth or sick problem?

I'm the same, heartburn can get so bad it wakes me up. I usually try and take some medicine before I drop off and it has helped (until last night) The only time I have gotten blood is when im actually sick, it's like i've burst a vessel heaving or something (sorry if tmi) so if its there when you arent being sick i would check it out to be on the safe side.

I have hideous heartburn/acid every night. You can get some medicine from doctors - a tablet you can take to stop stomach acid production. Some chemists will sell it to you over the counter, and some wont and you have to get a prescription. I know a lot of women who have said they couldn't have survived their pregnancy without it. It's called Zantac (or renitadine) I think? I have been taking rennie whenever I get heartburn which seems to just about get me through! The blood may be due to the small blood vessels bursting in your throat as the other lady said, but get it checked if you are worried! xx

I suffered terribly with this too until last Friday when I discovered the wonders of Gaviscon!!!

I would be awake most of the night with heartburn and then heavily sick with acid and bile in the morning or middle of the night.

I take 5ml after most meals and 10mls just before bed. If I wake in the night I take another small dose, even if I don't feel acidy.

It's made such a drastic difference, I can't believe I never tried it before!!!

Yeah i live on gaviscon, take it before bed and during the night but i still suffer with heartburn badly, also the blood definitly isnt from my gums, as it comes up from my throat.

Will mention it to my midwife when i next see her. cant wait for baby to arrive! No more heartburn yay!

Hi

Sometimes I wake up with a sore throat. I think my nose bleeds whilst I'm asleep, but not enough to come out of my nose it just goes down my throat. Sometimes I feel 'bunged' up and blowing my nose reveals blood. I don't develop a cold so I'm guessing that's the cause of the bunged up feeling.

Could be a possibility?

I don't mean to alarm you, but if you think the blood is coming up from your stomach (it would probably be dark-coloured), you may be bleeding from your stomach or oesophagus just above your stomach due to damage caused by the acid constantly coming up, and that can be serious in some cases.

If it were me, unless I was booked to see the midwife the very next day I wouldn't wait until that appointment, I would see a GP or go to the A & E as soon as possible, just to be on the safe side. If you weren't pregnant and started having blood come up your throat you'd probably want it checked right away, right?
