Are UK fathers entitled to time off work to attend Ante Natal classes?

Can anyone tell me if husbands/partners/other halfs/significant others are entitled to time off work to attend Ante Natal classes?

Thanks! xx

No, unfortunately.
The paid time off for antenatal care only applies to the expecting mum. The employer can decide whether to give the father paid or unpaid time off for it, but it's not under any obligation to do so.
Can't your partner take a day off for it?

No. Can you not find one at a time he can attend? Mine were in the evening so most of the father's can go. My friend went on a weekend as her husband does a lot of on-call and they couldn't attend evenings.

Thanks for this information that's great! Yes he can take time off but as he works shifts they have to arrange cover and if they don't have cover they can't take the time off. Fingers crossed we'll get the dates in advance so he has a better chance to organise cover. Thank you! xx

TBH, our antenatal classes were a complete waste of time. All we talked about were the different type of pain relief available and did some pointless exercises.
I learnt a lot more in BnB than in my antenatal and breastfeeding classes.

Its really important for dads to come along if they want to, sadly some classes aren't at the best times!

Have a search for private classes, they vary in price but are usually either weekends, evenings or one to one classes in your home. If you live in Cheshire / Manchester try Bumpsy baby
