Mat leave experts: is there a 'better' time of the week or month to start mat leave?

Hello ladies,

I'm looking at my diary and planning when exactly I want my mat leave to start.

Does anyone have any tips on what is the best day of the week or time of the month to start mat leave so I get maximum pay?

For example, I want to start my mat leave in the first few days of March, so that I get a full salary for Feb even though Feb only has 28 days.

Also, I'm thinking of starting my mat leave on a Tuesday so I can paid for the previous weekend, which I wouldn't if I only stayed till Friday.

Any other suggestions?

I would say you've picked the best time really.. Someone told me it's easier (less mistakes made) when you go at the end of a pay cycle. I get paid a week in hand so I finished a week before pay (get paid 4 weekly) and I just had my last full pay (minus days off for snow ) not looking forward to first pay of smp lol

ETA: Just thought, first 6 weeks of SMP are 90% of wages.. so you could work the first two weeks of the month and then go? so you get almost full the first month and then 90% the second?
