Baby's stomach is larger than head

I just went for my 28 week check up and my pregnancy has been smooth sailings. On this appointmwnt however, she said my baby's stomach is measuring larger than his head and I have a higher than normal amount of amniotic fluid. My GD test came back fine. What could this mean for me? Has anyone been through this?

Didnt want to read and run. I have no experience with this. I have my 28 weeks appointment in a week so am not quite there yet. Did you get an ultrasound? is that how they saw these things? Also did the doctor seem concerned?

I dont have experience with this as well. Although during my ultrasound back in January doctor said my baby has an enlarged kidney, but baby is doing well. I hope everything works out and I am sure it will. Congrats on the GD test coming back fine. I failed mine!

I had my 28 week scan on Tuesday and have the same thing, his tummy is not quite as big as his head tho.
I don't know what it is or have any advice but just came to say you aren't alone.

all the way through i have been told babies tummy is bigger than his head, his head is on the 95th centile line and his tummy is WELL over it, i was also told there is less fluid than they usually like to see in that case, but my consultant didnt seem bothered by it, so im hoping all is well, i know baby is happy and healthy in there, as all the scans show a very active good size baby, his heart beat is perfect, he always wriggles, i was however told he is going to be mahoosive, i dont know how accurate that is, as if the scan says he has a big head and belly that is what the use to guess the weight of baby, but maybe (well im hoping) that he was just breating out at the time of the scan.

I've had this at several scans with tummy well above the 95th centile and head below the 5th! Raised my concerns with midwife and she said this:

a) Of all the measurements they take, abdominal is the least accurate and they hold less sway by it. It's more of a reference than anything - but no measurements are totally accurate, especially the later you get in pregnancy as baby is all cramped.

b) It can vary MASSIVELY depending on when the baby is scanned. Apparently, it's like measuring us first thing in the morning versus after a night on the beers and a three course meal. If buubs has drunk lots of amniotic fluid, the measurement will be an awful lot higher than if it has just expelled it.

c) Midwife says she sees these measurements time and time again and babies come out with little tummies!

I am also down to have a huge baby, so we shall see what happens but try not to worry too much
