I was wondering if any of you had experienced the same or might have an idea of what might be causing this discomfort, the past two days I have had a severe pain in my left side just under the breast in my ribs and slightly under my ribs, the pain is bad constantly but if I try to lay on that side I feel like I've had the wind knocked out of me it hurts so bad, in three pregnancies I've never felt pain like it, every breath I take is agony and the pain then shoots through my chest and shoulder with each breath which seems very odd! I think I may have hurt myself lifting my son when we had a beach/loo emergency! I'm seriously thinking of calling the midwife but she's not the most reassuring of people and always seems busy, so just wondering if this may be a normal thing or I've gone and pulled something??
You need to see someone right away. Anytime you have pain in your left shoulder it is a big red flag. I do not know what cause or effect of those pains are in pregnancy, but for anyone not pregnant left shoulder pain is cause for going to a doc.
Could be that you've just pulled something or that baby is putting enough pressure to cause pains, but don't chance it...call or go in please
I had the exact same pains, but on the right side. The hospital couldn't really help me since it was the baby putting pressure on that side, it eventually went away on its own, but left-sided pain is more serious. Try laying on the opposite side with pillows.
If you have consistant pains on either side, phone your physician. I know the Right side can indicate gallbladder/pre-eclampsia as a worse case scenario. I was grilled on this by my dr. last week due to some scares
Hi ladies, only just got back on to see replies, I managed to sleep on my right side all night and the pain on my left is less but still there, will phone midwife when OH gets back and see what she says just incase it is something that needs urgent attention, he shouldn't be long, thank you for replies xxx
