birthing 'outfit'

Hi Ladies,

Just lurking here from 2nd trimester and was wondering what sort of nightie you are taking in your hospital bag for the birth? I don't want to buy anything expensive because I will be ruined, but on the other hand I don't want to look awful on my 1st Mummy and baby photo (i know, that's vanity for you!). Any thoughts? Also, how many pjs/nighties are you taking to the hospital with you?

Thanks!

I have got a nursing nightie for after the birth which I got from mamas and papas on offer 10, for the labour I am gonna c if I can get myself a cheap strappy nightie from primark tomorrow as I don't want to spend a fortune on something that is going to get ruined! I will probably invest in some nursing nighties from mothercare 2 for 18 so I will be taking 1 for labour 2 for my hospital stay just incase xxx

Here in the US, we get hospital gowns! If you're in the hospital they do not allow you to wear your own clothes for the birth! So it is REALLY common here for their first photo with baby to be in a standard hospital gown. I probably won't put on my own clothes till after my shower.

I bought a long oversized nightie from primark for 4.50 for my birth, I will just be throwing it away afterwards. I don't wear nighties, prefer pjs but if I did I would have just used an old one that was in the house. A lot of women use long shirts as well.

I got mines from primark too. A stripey one with buttons so it's easier to breastfeed
