painful itchy stretch marks- raised and scar like??

I'm worried about the stretch marks I have on my belly- they are really REALLY itchy and red, also recently they have become thickened and raised almost like scar tissue. I have been rubbing on special stretch mark creams and cocoa butter but they just seem to get worse every day . I'm a little worried they won't fade after the LO is born. Has anyone else suffered with stretch marks like this??

At your next doctor/mw appoitment see if they can check your stretch marks...what you have sounds A LOT like PUPPP which is pretty much like a rash on top of your stretch marks. Mine have been terribly itchy and raised up as well so I mentioned it to my doctor on Thursday and found out that I had PUPPP. Regular cocoa butter lotion does not do anything but make them worse (in my experience), but your doctor will prescribe you something to help. Also, putting a really cold ice pack on them helps as well.

I hope you feel better soon!

Hello, there was a good thread on this *with photos* earlier in the week. Ive had the same for the last couple of weeks and was in complete sympathy but had never heard of PUPP until it was mentioned on that thread. I now am convinced thats what I had - as before the stretch marks started itching, I had a rash all over my bum and thighs! Huge great lumps so I assumed they were bites but I now think its all connected. They all disappeared and then my tummy erupted.

I did find that balm, or just neat coconut oil helps sooth them and I will think they have completely gone - bit then suddenly it starts itching and I cant stop. Ive just applied some more oil which does help for a short while but I have a midwife appt on Wednesday and Im going to mention it to her - not that she will be able to ignore it when I lift my top!

I was dead against getting any kind of medication, and since everything I have read about it says it will go as soon as the baby is born (the itching - not the marks!) then Im not overly keen to get steroids for it (thats the standard treatment) if there is a better way but Im so near term now that I dont think it will hurt and if it gets rid then it'll be worth it.

Ive read a lot and apparently coal tar soap works well, or failing that oatmeal soap. Im going to stick with the coconut oil until Wednesday and see what midwife offers!

I'm not sure what your doctor/mw will offer, but mine offered oral medication which I declined and instead she prescribed steroid cream which has no effect on Baby at all. I put my little jar of it in the fridge and it feels awesome when I put it on the stretch marks!! I hope your mw can help you out!

I also found this link as well. It's another pregnancy forum, but the woman who posted the question is also suffering from PUPPPS and these are just a bunch of remedies that other people have used and it worked for them. I'm personally going out to get the Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap tomorrow

Many thanks to both of you! I will definitely see what the doctor says- I have an appt on Monday. I'm hopeful knowing there can be something given to stop the itching because its horrendous . Itchiness is everywhere, including my hands and feet where I've now developed these tiny little blisters, but my tummy is definitely the worst.
