I am 32 weeks pregnant with baby number 3. Last friday night i had an episode of lots of bleeding and was put into the hospital. (they did an ultrasound-everything looked perfect, no problems at all.) babys still active with a great heartbeat etc. I am not dilated at all either. I was sent home on sunday only to have a reoccurance of bleeding sunday night. I was put back into the hospital until yesterday. Once again though, baby is fine, not dialted etc. ANyone else have an weird unexplained bleeding at this stage of the game and still carried full term with out further complications. I can even think straight cuz all i keep thinking about is what happens if i end up having the baby now. i am scared to death of something else going wrong (more bleeding etc). I dont know what to do. Both of my other pregnancies i carried to full term without complications like this one. Anyone have any idea or advice etc
The doc said I am not on `bedrest`i just have to take it easy and just do the normal stuff. But i am so worried !!!! argH!
My first bout of unexplained bleeding was at 20 weeks, but it went away on its own. Then, at 32 weeks, I had it again to the point that I was soaking pads (sorry, TMI) and was held in the hospital for a week... ultrasounds, steroids, etc. Had another go at 34w3d but was released after a 3 day stay. I am now 39 weeks and am being induced tomorrow (39w1d) but not because of the bleeding. They never did figure out what was causing it. I had 2 NSTs and a BPP every week from 32 weeks until now and weekly mw appointments.
Baby has been doing great and her heartrate has always been wonderful. So, just because you had unexplained bleeding does not mean that you will go early or that anything is wrong. I haven't been free of a pad in 3 weeks, but it has not been a cause for concern to the mw. As long as they have ruled out abruption and previa, I wouldn't worry too much (easier said than done, I know). You may just have an irritable cervix. Hope this helps a little.
heya from 20 weeks - 24 weeks i had bleeding on and off for absolutely no reason and no explanation!!! Everything is fine with bambino and sometimes it just happens :S I also had some at about 32 weeks for no reason also!
now before you read what i am going to write just be aware this is a very rare condition so unlikely for you but still a posibility..
i had unexplained bleeding with my first lo at 11weeks and 33 weeks..they were going to deliver me at 33 but it settled down and stopped..my bleeding was chunky like placenterish and they even saw enough of it but didnt know what it was til i had lo!!
i was bleeding cos i had a condition called placenta accreta..the placenta was abnormally adhered to the uterus wall causing it to not come away when i gave birth and resulting in a serious hammerage losing 2litres of blood..i was lucky i was not given a hysterectomy as this is usually what happens when women have it..my drs managed to stop the bleeding..
i was told AFTER i gave birth and nearly lost my uterus that the accreta typically causes bleeding around the 33 week mark and most babies are born premmie then..so this was the reason for my unexplained bleeding in the end but as i said its very rare..they did ultrasounds and all sorts of checks but didnt find it.just make sure ur drs at delivery are aware of the bleeding and maybe mention the possibility of accreta so they are prepared just in case?they probably wont take u very seriously though as i know all my drs and midwives were shocked when i was preg with my second that i had had an accreta.fingers crossed everything is fine.x
Could be a small placental abruption. If it isn't a big enough tear, it usually won't show up on the screen. You also could have developed a hematoma at some point, and since it is burst, it also may not show up on the screen(not sure if the leftovers would). Sounds like you've described more than just normal bleeding caused by cervical cells coming out or cervical agitation. I wish they'd have kept you until they figured it out, but it sounds like they've covered all the bases.
Hope all is well and personally, I'd put myself on bedrest, which I know is hard because you have 2 little ones.
