UTI? Kidney infection? Cramps?

I have no idea what's going on here. Since very early yesterday morning I've had a bad backache, just on the right side, under my last rib. I've got a lot of cramping across my lower abdomen as well, much like period cramping. At first I just thought it was normal pregnancy aches and pains, but it hasn't let up at all. I'm familiar with the uti that causes the urgent need to go, with burning. But I don't have that, although I am urinating more frequently. However, that's to be expected at this point, isn't it?
I don't have a fever, chills, or anything of that sort. Just the nonstop lower backache on one side, cramps, and frequent urination. The doctor did say at my last appointment there was a little protein in my urine, if that makes a difference. But he didn't say anything else about it.
If anyone else has experienced some type of infection, could you please tell me how you felt? My doctor's office isn't open until Monday, do you think its something that could wait until then? If it is an infection, I don't want it to hurt the baby.

I could have written this! I had protein in my wee at last appointment on wed, still waiting to hear back about that. I am getting up to wee millions of times in the night, have lower backache and getting lots of cramps on and off. Baby is starting to engage and its bloody painful - am getting some serious shooting pains and have also been clearing out the last few days - always feel like I need a poo which Im presuming is pressure from baby.
I dont think I have a UTI as when I have had one before it really hurts to wee and im fine. Also I have been on antibioitics for the last week for an ear infection and they are the same ones I would have been presecribed for a UTI so think they would have cleared it up had I had one!
I think this is just the next stage in late pregnancy - awesome :-/

As long as there's no immediate danger to the baby, I can put up with it I think. I really hope its nothing though. It doesn't hurt to pee or anything, so I'm really confused about that if it is some kind of infection. I'd rather not go to the ER over something dumb if its a normal pregnancy thing though lol. The pain in my back almost feels like a pulled muscle, that's the only way to really describe it.

Just found this:

Kidney infection pain occurs around the waist area and is often stabbing or short bursts of pain that can make you stop in your tracks. Round ligament pain is often constant and more of a throbbing type of pain very similar to a pulled muscle.

Sounds more like ligament pain, probably just a side effect of baby dropping lower. Still giving the doctor a call come monday, but I think I'll relax for now. Thank you for your help!
