Do laxatives induce labour?

Has anyone heard of it working? My friend said to try it and I can see the logic but also scared it might harm LO and cause meconium in my waters or something, what do you guys think?

I agree, a little extra wait is far better than the risk to your baby being in distress and also you having the runs the whole time you're in labour, rather undignified!

i'm not sure.

i know caster oil is used to try induce labour and that pretty much gives you the sh**s like a laxative. but then again if your badly constipated i know they suggest an enema before labour and i suppose that pretty much the same thing too you would need to ask a professional really as some things are not safe to take in pregnancy anyway.

TBH, laxatives dont do a thing about labour other than cleaning your tummy!
I come from a country where castor oil is used as constipation releiving thing very often and its good when you know the right amount to take..

but inducing labour is a big question mark..!

hey hunny

ive heard this too but after a bit of research ive decided against it. It can cause severe dehydration in you and little one (even if it doesnt induce labour), it can cause baby to become distressed in the womb and that results in meconium and lastly it can cause you to become ill

So id try other methods such as sex, clary sage oil and EPO which are safe methods to induce baby id they are ready xx
