Average size for a first baby?

Hiya
I was just wondering - those who are 2nd+ time mums, what's the average first baby weight? I thought it was 6.5-7.5 pounds, yet everyone's birth stories on here seem to have much bigger babies!
I've heard it can go on yours/your partners weight at birth (if you were 7lb at birth you're likely to have an average size baby, for example). My DH had a dream the other night that our baby was 12lb 13oz, hopefully that is NOT a premonition! xxx

I think the average weight of a newborn has increased over the past few years, I read that it is now 7.5lbs on average but can be anything from 5.5lbs to 10lbs. Please dont let me have a 10lber lol!x

I don't think there is an easy way to predict it by genetics, etc. While it is true that, in general, your first baby is often your smallest, first babies can vary greatly. Mine was 7lb 6oz, even though both my husband and I were very large babies. My SILs first baby was 11lb 7oz, then her second was just over eight lbs.

My first was 7lb 1.5oz

It varies person to person. one of my friends had a little girl who weighed 6lb, another had a boy who was 9b 4oz and another had her first and he was a whopping 12lb!

I dont believe that they get bigger the more you have. My mum's friend has an 18year old who was 10lbs something at birth, and gave birth to a 7lbs 9ounce girl feb just gone. One of my friends, her second baby was the biggest at 8lbs 9ounce. Her first was 7lbs something, and her last which was june just gone was 8lbs 2ounce.
I've also heard that genetic's have a part to play in birth weight, but i was 6lbs 7, and my OH was 8lbs 3. Our first son was 9lbs half an ounce! Will be interesting to see how big this baby is. I hope he's a bit smaller, cause then he'll feel like a baby for longer! Plus my son is sooooo heavy! He's just solid, not fat, SOLID! hurt's the arm's and back, dont know how i'll cope with 2 solid boys
