Due dates and accuracy, last menstrual cycle or ultrasound?

Hi ladies,

I am due Jan 17th according to my doctor, thats 40 full weeks. My daughter was born a year and a half ago at 37weeks and 3 days. She was "due" aug 7th and was born july 21st all natural and in perfect health. My mother had calculated using the last day of my period and she calculated it for the 21st. My last AF was on Oct 14th and you add 7 and that makes it 21. It was right on spot using the last menstrual cycle. With this baby using this calculation i am due jan 11. My last AF was april 4+7=11
For those that have had kids before was the ultrasound or last menstrual cycle calculation the due date? I am hoping this goes right for me again because 40 weeks sound wayy too much and i am just so excited to meet our baby boy!!

For me it's impossible to go on LMP as I have PCOS and cycles which fluctuate between 30 and 100 days

Even for women with a regular 28 day cycle there can be fluctuations so it's always best to go on scan dates as much as you can x

Hmmm.. Well how come my daughter was on spot using my LMP and ultrasound was wrong? Anyway i didnt believe a computer can tell when a baby will be born.. I think its more your body.. The ultrasound said she was 7lbs and she was 5lbs. I dont think doctors and us machine can tell much about an unborn baby

for me my 1st my waters went a week before scan dates and 10 days before lmp dates. my 2nd i ended up with a section after hoping to go natural. the section was booked for a week after scan dates and on the day i was due based on lmp. so dont really no. however she wasnt even engaged. my cervix was long and unfavourable. so she wouldnt of come then. so both scan and lmp where wrong. anything from 37 to 42 is on time and all babys are ready at different times. It could bo something other than baby being ready that put you into labour

If I'd fallen pregnant on my longer cycle, my baby would have been months overdue!

But I agree on you knowing a lot more about your own body and I know a lot of a these weight scans are wrong. I was told I was having a bigger baby and he was tiny.

I dont think it really matters on LMP or scan cause babies are not predictable, even if you knew the exact minute that you conceived I dont think that means your going to have her exactly 40 weeks from then..you know? I think it depends on many things. My due date is about 5 days different from my LMP and my scan dates....I am going with my last scan date as that was most accurate with my last daughter. Although I KNOW waiting and being late etc is awful, the baby WILL eventually come!

Hmm well both times my LMP and my U/S dates have been the same.

Jack came a week early.

Maybe your baby came early last time, especially if she was only 5lbs - suggests you weren't 40 weeks.

xx
