Anti-D Injection today

I always get myself in such a tizz over these things..

So what can I expect? Needles don't really bother me but I'd like to have an idea of what I'm going into. Is it just go in, be injected and leave or is there like a consultation before or after? Do I need to take anything other than my notes? I'll obviously eat first and take a drink with me just in case.. Anything else I need to know?

Had mine on Wednesday.
I went in to have more blood taken (for next ones I think) then had my injection in my arm this time - had it in my hip with DD.
The midwife did a little antenatal check too like BP and listened to baby etc.

She warned me it would sting but hand on heart it was no different than a flu jab (without the sore arm the next day)

Nothing to worry about love I promise - relax and treat yourself to a cake afterwards xx

I got really worked up an scared over my anti d. But literally 2 seconds and it was done. They did it sort of in the top part of my arm and i didnt feel a thing. The flu jab is worse, that to me feels like a wasp sting lol but no if you had your blood test the week before it will be just in, have the jab, wait for 15 mins just incase, then out again!

Yeh you should of had a blood test the week before. They should look into it or at least ask you if you have had it done before they give you the injection. If you tell them you havent i dont know if they will take you blood before then give you the jab, or make you come back... i would ring an ask if i were you, otherwise you may end up having a wasted trip?

Ive only had one blood test this time round.
In my last pregnancy i had tons.

I had the anti-d in my arm, waited around for ten mins to make sure i didnt have a reaction (very rare apparently) then left. Its quite a thick cold solution and you can feel it running down your arm. Quite bizarre feeling

All went fine today

They never mentioned having blood done prior, but they did take more for a full count and a GD test. Injection went into the back of my hip and tbh I never felt a thing.
