Just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes - 34+4

I have to see the specialist tomorrow - is bubba likely to get poorly? She's recently started measuring very big. I'm seeing the nutritionist tomorrow morning to get a diet plan and a glucose monitor.

It sounds like they may bring her out a little early, does anyone know what week they usually do it?
Thanks in advance - I'm worried that I've been making her poorly without even knowing

xx

oh sorry to hear that.. but hopefully everything will be alright as I know many had GD and everything turned ok..
Some do induce in 38wks some wait to later depends on your personal situation i guess.

Really wish your next couple of weeks go smoothly hun

When did you have your first test that came back negative? It's mad that you suddenly now have it. But I'm sure its all good news, and they will monitor you really closely for this last bit of your pregnancy to ensure bubba is safe and well.

My first test was at 28 weeks which was negative. They've been talking about bubba arriving early and have said it's unlikely they will let me go to term - she's measuring 2-3 weeks ahead at present.

I have no idea what I should be eating for tea considering having one last take away before being really strict when I get my monitor and diet stuff tomorrow.

TBH ~I can;t fault the care I;ve had.

33+4 - saw MW, measured big
34 - Scan and consultant appointment - measuring ahead
34+4 - saw MW measuring bigger still +ve for glucose
34+5 - GTT - came back positive
34+6 - seeing nutritionist
35+4 - transferred to bigger hospital, meet new consultant.

all quite quick

Oh no. Not great hearing news like that, but hope your not too worried

A lady I know had her baby boy at 37 weeks, induced, because of GD. He was fine, 7lbs something I think he was, and he had been measuring big.

Try not to worry, at least they can keep a proper eye on you now they know.

I found out at 32 weeks and had to be place on medication b/c my numbers wouldn't cooperate. I'm being induced at 39 weeks. My dr waits til 39 unless there are other complications. The baby is weighing in at about 7lbs 4oz right not which they say is a little big, but I know people who didn't gave GD who had 8-10 lb babies.
