getting induced and hospital car park expensive

is anyone else having this problem i could be in up to 4 days and with hospital been far out my oh will have to drive up to see me at the cost of 17 pound parking a time and petrol so i prob be on own most time

i asked reception about cheaper parking else where she was so rude to me saying when you have your baby he has to go home anyway the times are 8am till 10pm for oh to stay

Unfortunately I don't think theres much you can do about it. The parking at my hospital was £12 a day and we live 45 minutes from the hospital so petrol wasn't cheap either. My husband was with me the entire time I was induced and for the birth etc and it rolled into 2 days. I ended up with a c section and was in for 5 days in total and my husband visited for the maximum visiting hours each day so it cost a fair bit. There was no cheap option as even the on duty midwives and nurses had to park in the same car park and pay!

i was in 3 days with my son and we spent a lot on car parking! not much u can do..maybe there might be some street parking near by that is free or cheaper

yeah going to look into it but that's disgusting the midwifes had to pay as well

No advise apart from what someone else has said, maybe try finding a street/area he can park in as an alternative.

My hospital have given me a 24hr free parking sign to put in the car and with one of these you only have to pay £1.50 per 3hrs extra... Might be worth asking your mw if your hospital offer them to pregnant ladies? x

I dont know about the UK, but my hospital they had a weekly rate? We discovered that it cost us $15 per day or $30 per week. If its automatic parking have a look at the machine and the options it has on it?

Not sure where you are in the UK, but in our hospital it's £1 an hour or they do actually do a WEEKLY parking ticket for £20 which is quite a good deal I think! That's what we'll be doing

It's true there are very few consessions to parking.

I'm a nurse and we have to pay 2.5% of our net pay each month to park, on the wards we only give free parking to:

- ICU patients

- SCUBA

- Dying patients

Obviously there familys, not the actual patients, lol.

We often get very irate families when we say no, but we have to!!
