Help!! Severe, severe, severe pain in buttock radiating down leg

Hello ladies. I finally managed to sit down to write this. I am waiting for my boyfriend to come home so we can decide if I need to go to the hospital and really need some advise.

Ever since yesterday I have had EXCRUCIATING pain starting in my right butt cheek and radiating down to my foot. It comes and goes, but when it is here, I'd rank it a 9 out of 10. I can barely catch my breath and am in tears. When it is bearable, I'd rank it a 4 or 5 out of 10. I am taking tylenol but it is doing nothing for me. I'm reading online and figure it's either posterior pelvic girdle pain or sciatica, and there doesn't seem to be much I can do for it that I haven't done already, but can someone PLEASE tell me what they will do for the acute pain if I show up to the hospital? Is there anything, either a shot of steriods or a few doses of extra strength pain killers, that they can give me to hold me over under I get an appointment with a physical therapist?

Please please let me know. If there is nothing they can do for the pain I feel right now then I don't see the point in going. Getting down the stairs and into a car is going to be very painful for me and I would rather just stay here if I will get no relief at the hospital or clinic.

Please help, I am miserable and losing my mind from pain.

It sounds like sciatica to me. Baby could be pressing on a nerve.... I am really not sure that they'll give you stronger pain relief....they didn't for me, but I'm in UK. Hope it goes away soon...

I agree, it does sound like sciatica. I had this at 5 weeks for some bizarre reason, and you're right, it's absolute agony. I hope it goes away for you soon!

The dr just called me back and said that without a physical exam she has no idea what's going on and to just rest and see how I feel in the morning. PERHAPS I DID NOT STATE ENOUGH TIMES TO HER THAT I AM IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN!!! I don't know what to do!

I really feel for you. I had this a few weeks ago and it was agony! I don't think they will be able to give anything for it. I went for osteo and acupuncture. Fortunately baby turned around and the pain went away straight away.

I really hope you feel better soon as I was almost in tears with the pain.

Take care.

P.S. I forgot to say there are some stretches on youtube that helped me. Mainly squats and something lying down. Just search on sciatica. Hope that helps.

This does sound like siatica hun and ive had it on and off for the last few days...

Mines also in my right bum cheek mainly and the very bottom of my back

I asked my midwife about it and she said its just one of those pregnancy related things, not much you can do about it and that it'll probably spread to the other side soon (thanks lol)

I feel your pain though coz its soooooooo bad! i can just about walk when im getting a bad siatica pain! x

Ive had sciatica on/off since about 12 weeks and I know how you feel! I tend to just keep walking (no matter how much it hurts) and take some paracetamol thats all I do and its manageable xx

Thanks guys. Stretching is out of the question- I can barely walk. I've gotten next to no sleep over the past two days and am really frustrated than there isn't anything else I can do. I had spinal surgery about 10 years ago and just hate being told that any back pain I experience is just "how it is" because I know how serious it could be. Even if it is just sciatica, I wish the doctor would take me seriously when I say I am in 10 out of 10 pain because of my medical history. I just don't like being told over the phone to just deal :/

This could also be a clot, so you need to go and have it looked at A.S.A.P. This is common in pregnancy and you should go in today.n Good luck.
