Had my 38 wk check up and it was rubbish really. It was hospital outpatient. The midwife was fine, but then I went into the Dr and she was awful. She was a Dr I've not met before, she didn't even look at my file, just asked me to get up on the bed. It took her ages to find the heartbeat. Then she used a portable scanner to see what position baby was in. I couldn't see the screen at all and she seemed to be looking all over for quite a while and saying nothing.
So naturally I thought maybe something was wrong, so I asked if everything was alright and she was like "yes I'm just trying to find the head". I mean at this point she was looking at what must have been his feet!!!! anyway she eventually found his head, which is down but to the left hand side. So basically he is wedged between my ribs and pelvis.
Now I'm worried that baby is actually stuck in this position. He has always measured big, and for the last while he has been on my left side bottom wedged under my ribs. I have a fibroid on the lower right side of my uterus too, so I don't know if that is stopping him from engaging. They did check it at my 20 wk scan and again 4 wks later but after that it's not been checked and they did not seem concerned by it, but he has not shifted out of this position at all, or dropped.
I didn't feel I could talk to the Dr as she was obviously not interested in anything. When she did find the head and told us, I said I couldn't see the screen and she just ignored me so I've no idea what she was trying to look at on the screen. I've left feeling annoyed, afraid and with more questions than I had going in.
