If you're having a c-section, what is the reason for it?

I had a scan yesterday which put my due date up by three weeks and four days, to TOMORROW! Baby is measuring at 40+4 as of yesterday, and over 8 pounds.

I know people say these things are off, but DH was a big baby, and I have gained........60 POUNDS SO FAR AS PER MY DOCTOR I was underweight beforehand. So I have definitely been eating a ton, and have a gut feeling that this little bundle of joy (who is kicking me in my rib right now and making me cringe, ha ha) is HUGE.

Anyway...I'm going to ask my doc about a c-section on Wednesday (he previously said no, I asked b/c I'm fearful of labor)...and I wanted to ask you girls on here why you're having a section.

in my last pregnancy the baby's head couldnt fit through my pelvis, which was what happened to my mom with me and my sister. they said i could try a VBAC but i dont want to go through labor just to get cut open again and have the painful recovery too. and this baby is already measuring big in head circumference so im having a csection this time too.

Section first time from failure to progress, fetal distress, maternal fever. This time it's repeat section plus I have epilepsy and some other medical issues so weighed up VBAC and decided not to bother.

my son 11 years ago was breech and I had a c-section, this time my doctors are leaving it up to me. I can do a vbac or a c-section.

positives for c-section
- they say it's less stress on the baby
- you can plan it.
- since i have 4 doctors at my doctors office I could pick the doctor I like to deliver.
- I know what to expect.

cons
- RECOVERY
- I couldn't hold my son right away because i was throwing up afterwards
- RECOVERY, lol....

I'm hoping at my next scan they will just tell me what I have to do instead of me making the decision.

I have to have a C Section as any extra Pressure on my body could cause things to litteraly go 'bang' lol. I have esophogeal varices which could rupture and cause me to hemmorhage, in that case they have 20 mins till you bleed out

I am having a c-section because of size of baby/small size of my pelvis. However, I wanted a c-section from the beginning due to my fear of labour, fear of neonatal death, fear of not having a doctor there -- I had a very tramatic mc a few years ago where I was left to bleed (ultimately, left the hospital and went to my GP, who gave me painkillers and a lot more compassion/consideration/we are at another hospital this time) at the hospital from hell where there has been scandal after scandal....

My OH will be there to hold baby first and that's fine with me!

best wishes

It looks very possible I will be having a c section. I have a bicornuate uterus and baby is currently breech and is running out of room already so doctor isn't too sure she will be able to turn now. I find out for sure in 3 weeks though x x x

My first section was because of eclampsia and hellp syndrome and my second because of static growth and reduced fluid x

i had 2 sections due to placenta abruption and failure to progress. Then i had an induced VBA2C.

Id have another VBA2C anyday!

ETA: Id also NOT have a section based on a big baby. Many people are told that and then they have small babies. U/S can be off on weights. My neighbor was told her baby was 10lbs and wouldnt fit down the canal so she had a section- her baby ended up weighing 7.5lbs. She didnt need a section after all if the DR had just waited.
