Maternity Allowance Question

Hi girls, sneaking over a bit earlier from 2nd tri (26 weeks)

I'm sending off my form today as you can 14 weeks before your due date and I'm not starting my maternity leave until feb 10th (11 weeks before due date) as you don't get any maternity pay until then.

My question is will I get my first payment around the 10th or will they wait a couple off weeks to pay me? So I'd get it around the 24th?

Just wondering when you girls got yours if you're getting MA instead of SMP (I own my own business self employed so can't get SMP)

Or if you know if there is a hefty waiting list on processing payments?

Thank you in advance girls xxxx

Hey, I am (was!) a teacher and resigned as of 31st December 2011. My first MA payment went into my account about 2 days ago. But it was payment in arrears covering the whole of January. I have asked my money to go into my account every 2 weeks. Hope this helps? xxx

Hi!
Had my letter back on Friday (only took 14 days from posting to hearing back).

If you have asked for an advanced date then you will be paid approx 2/4 weeks (dependant on which you've requested) after start date due to being paid in arrears. For you this will be around the 24th as you said.

Hope this helps!

(I had Wrexham office deal with mine so not sure if the other office are as upto date)

Hi, I started my leave on dec 24th, but didn't get around to posting the form off to let them know the date, till about a week after that. Got my first payment on 12th Jan. I also asked to be paid every 2 weeks.

Aw thank you. Decided rather than sending it now saying I'm not in leave yet (so they have to send me another letter/phonecall to check when) I'm just going to send it on the 11th feb (last working day will be 10th feb) and say I'm on mat leave as of now. Hope they don't take too long. Silly me working out our finances wrong this month and spending too much  baby brain!
