Wondering about back-to-back baby

I read that the MOST ideal position for baby to be in for L&D is Left occiput anterior (LOA).

But I also read that when a woman has back labor, it means the baby is back-to-back to the mother, but is this true all the time?

Any of you have stories of back to back labor and baby's position?

Thanks, girls....I just want to be prepared for anything.

My first turned back to back in the early stages of labour. For me labour was only in my back and it was horrendus. Felt like baby was snapping my spine in two. Remember though thats just MY story it wouldnt be the same for all. She also presented with a brow presentation that ended up landing us with a ecs. I do feel tho that if i hadnt had an epidural i may have had more luck at pushing her out

When you say she turned back to back, do you mean she stayed that way from that point on? Perhaps that's why you had so much back pain?

my ds was posterior (back to back) from about 35 weeks, I had back ache then but laboured all in my tummy just like i did with LOA DD. My friend however had a LOA baby with all her pain in the back!

My DS was back to back and i had a 45 hour labour (well, from 1st contraction until he was born although contractions were full on for the full 45 hours).

Contractions started in my back and made its way around to my tummy... horrendous.. couldnt bare to sit or lie down so i had to stand the whole time, that is until i asked for epidural then i managed to get a little rest.

LO is currently not back to back and i have 5 weeks to go so fingers crossed she stays that way xx

My little girl turned back to back around week 40 which gave me loads of lower pack pains. The pushing stage wasnt painful but the pree labour contractions were terrible.

Thing is, you can bounch your ball and scrub your floors on all fours and do everything to "turn" the baby into right position BUT the baby can just as well turn just before delivery, either way.

Best thing is just to relax and deal with the issue when it comes. I dont remember having any pains in my back during delivery after a shoot of diamorphine.
