What a bunch of b*****ds! (Rant warning)

Sorry but I have the vent somewhere or I am going to either explode or run out of tears!!

My OH's employers are a complete bunch of b*****ds!!!!

This is new on top of the complete pile of s**t they normally treat him like!! He is completely undervalued and I think they are a bunch of thieving buggers.."family business" my arse! It basically means lets line our pockets and sod the employees!!

My OH told them MONTHS AGO that he would be taking two week paternity leave when I had the baby. They said "yeah fine" just come and tell us when it all happens and we will sort it then. So I am booked to hopefully be induced tomorrow and he informed them that he wouldn't be in after today so was asking for 2 days unpaid before starting his two weeks leave.

They turn around today and say that he can only have one week but they will be nice and start it from Monday. I know this may sound like a stupid thing to get upset over and he is lucky to have any time off at all but I can't believe they have waited until now to tell him. I have worked on the fact that all the way through my pregnancy I would have 2 weeks of support after baby is here and now I only get a week?! Obviously I burst into tears instantly. I feel so sorry for getting upset though as realistically my OH doesn't have anything he can do. As it is a family business, they can be really petty if he pushes it (and have been with others in the past)..it could be the case of going back to work for 3 weeks then they tell him that they have no more work and could lay him off! He needs to stay on their good side. I am just so frustrated that I feel like my new little family have been robbed of a week of time with daddy

Off to stuff my face with chocolate. sorry for the loooong rant but I needed to get it out as when I next talk to my OH, I need to be all cheerful and smiles so he doesn't feel worse xx

He is entitled to two weeks by law hun http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/...ce/DG_10029398. They can't sack him for pushing it either. What idiots I'm sorry they are being so unreasonable x

Urgh same mate, my OH's company wudn't let him have our honeymoon off so we didn't get to go anywhere.. we just had to grab a quick weekend, luckily it was bank holiday!! Now they told him he cud have 2 weeks for paternity, and have changed their mind a couple of weeks ago to say he cud only have 1 week.. I think it's very unfair personally.. that comes out of his holidays as well, he doesn't get paternity :@ x x

I remember reading your thread emily and feeling so bad then the same thing happens to me the next day I don't think they will give him full pay either. I asked him if they would let him take a week unpaid for the second week as we have enough money put aside to cover this but it's not looking likely as they have so much work on, it isn't in their interest to lose a really good worker.

I understand he is entitled to two weeks by law and if he worked for a proper large corporate company we could contest it but as it is a small family run business, he needs to stay on their good side as he works for the building trade and they lay people off willy nilly claiming "lack of work" and it is so hard to get a job and we have just bought a house. Sadly money wins over time off I'm just so upset. x
