Baby Wipes

Will you be taking and using baby wipes at hospital on your new born? This is my second baby and I know how much pressure there is at hospital to use cotton balls and water. Is there any real harm in using a good brand of wipes suitable for sensitive skin?

Also...last time I took 'feminine wipes' to help keep myself clean after the birth. Compared to baby wipes, they are much more expensive. Is there any reason why I couldn't use sensitive baby wipes instead too? I couldn't imagine it would put you at any risk of infection, considering they are designed for baby bottoms ect??

Thanks. I am really curious about this and what other ppl think/will be doing.

Hey

I'm going to be taking in cotton pad type things (like the longer flat ones) cos the balls are so small! I won't be introducing wet wipes for a couple of months as I feel even the sensitive ones aren't going to be good for his skin. I've had a look at what the wipes contain and I feel just plain old water will be best. Loads of mums do use wipes from birth and don't experience any problems, I just want to avoid them at all costs

Oh same! I've already got mine in my hospital bag. I use wet wipes all the time, they're so handy x

I used them with my little boy from birth and will be this time, though i always found the sensitive pampers irritated my skin, so just used the normal ones x

well... interesting fact for you. I was also going to take the obligatory cotton wool etc to hospital with me, HOWEVER... at my recent antenatal class the MW confirmed that there was a clinical trial carried out last year. It confirmed (and has been in a medical journal, don't know which one) that Johnsons wipes (only the fragrance free ones) were exactly the same as using cotton wool and water.

i asked if i'd be told off using the wipes and she said well it is clinically proven... and your own baby! fair point!
xx

I've used Pampers Sensitive on my son since day one. Will be doing the same with this baby too.
