just read a scary birth story and now im terrified!

So the idea of giving birth has always scared me...but I read a birth story earlier about a woman who had an epidural and it spread to her lungs and she couldn't breathe?!?! And I read another one where a woman had an unknown blood clot and after she have birth it traveled to her brain and she died... And now I'm TERRIFIED that something like that is going to happen and I'm going to die during childbirth...

I'm so scared about this...I'm so scared I'm like on the verge of a panic attack...

Dont be scared hun! You shouldnt be reading things like that! Itll drive you mad! =P Its a very rare thing to die during childbirth, and because of certain things that have happened in the past doctors know what to be looking out for. Dont worry! Everything will be okay

Its normal to be freaked out about birth, because no matter how much we CAN control, there are things we can't. Keep reminding yourself that these things are so extremely, extremely rare! For some perspective, Im sure youre more likely to eat deli meat and get sick 10 times over than to have an unforeseen bloodclot, but we eat deli meat don't we? Well some of us do, you get my point.

Stay away from those horror stories!

and that is why I only read positive birth stories, hahah.

it's also good to know your body and let your doctors know if anything out of the ordinary is going on.. they could have had symptoms of the blood clot and didn't have it looked into? you never know!

We're all going to live through this, Promise. Stop reading horror stories... they're going to drive you up a wall. As other posters have said these are RARE circumstances, no worries, just make sure you let everyone know if you feel abnormal.
